I am going to miss the bird, after being a daily user for many years. My 10,000+ connections there have migrated to lots of places. That was Elon's plan all along; to divide the goodness and sense of community that we had established in that App! I hope to find the same community here!

Hi! Thank you so much for your support! It really is overwhelming. I am here and on Mastodon @kwaku mastodonapp.uk if people want to connect. I will take a few days to decide what my next move is with Twitter,

As we shift further to the right in England, Europe and even the US, where does it all end?

A lot of people have been complaining about Spoutible's speed. We were not expecting a 708.65% increase in traffic which is still increasing. This is a lot of new users in a short timeframe.

Soon we will implement interest filters. In the settings menu, you will be able to set what you are interested in seeing in your timeline and explore section. These filters will also be used for suggesting people to follow. So if you do not select K-pop, you will not see K-pop.

I hired a plumber to help me with repairs. He already had a rough and tiresome day. His old car broke down, his electric drill is faulty, and he lost his wallet. In all the tension and stress, he finished my repairs on time.

Since his car broke down, I drove him home.

In Austria for centuries, locals have created massive bonfires atop many of the mountains. They then light them as the sky goes dark on the longest day of the year. These fires turn the mountaintops into beacons and cast a mystical effect across the whole mountainous region. #solstice

My Hot Take: My heart hurts for this young woman's family. Again, it's not the Bobby Earles and the Peggy Sues. Systemic racism and biases infect every aspect of our lives.

Don't wait around for other people to be happy for you. Any happiness you get, you've got to make yourself.

Whoever this grandma is, I wish her more blessings and happiness in good health. Go mama 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾😂😂😂

We dream of the fathers we wanted, of the children we wanted to be. We make vows about the parents we can become. Then at some moments in our lives we find ourselves running in darkness, seeking the predictable warmth of an unconditional--& momentarily almost perfect--kind of love

At the celebration of life, the family stood up to recall happy stories, only happy stories. Called up to speak, I sat silent, unable to voice an abridged version of the man's life.

Maybe that was the special thing I shared with my dad, who was also a journalist. The need to tell the whole story.

This is the moment to forgive, right? And to forget. Except the body remembers.

For decades, I tried to copy my friends' casual closeness with their dads...but finally understood we could only forge a connection without the mist of an imagined past.

Years passed, with a hundred new stories & yet, the same story over & over again. Then--at rock bottom & about to lose his family--my dad quit. He didn't just promise this time, he really did it.

He got sober.

I'm standing outside in the dark. My 4H meeting is over. Mom's working & Dad's supposed to pick me up... but he isn't here. One by one, my friends get in their parents' cars & wave a furtive goodbye

I try & try but I can't remember who took me home, or when or what happened after

He lost his radio job & things went downhill. I don't really know what he was going through then. His words on those nights, slurry & impenetrable, only frightened me.

And what did I know of grief at 10 years old?

My dad started drinking in the Army. A vice that arrived with girlie magazines & gov't rationed smokes. Alcohol bonded men. It gave them options. They could run their fears through a joke-line. They could shout in the streets instead of crying.

The crying came later on

I make collages using paint and old photographs, maps and other ephemera from my family's history to try and document their lives. This dovetails nicely with an interest in genealogy.

This is a tribute to my Dad in honor of Father's Day on Sunday.

Do you just look at your parents and notice they are growing old and get this really tight feeling in your chest?

Our body is marked with the lines of life, put there by love and laughter, suffering and tears. It is beautiful!

That Black women are the world's saviors. That we're strong and can handle any and everything. That our value lies solely in what we can do for others.

We're tired and often unprotected at large and within our own community. We aren't allowed to just be and rest in our full humanity.
King Lavender-licous @BMWillz
What's one misconception about your community/demographic that you'd like to clear up?

What's one thing, above all else, you would like others to walk away knowing.

Please respond by quoting. The information is too important to hide in the comments. I and others will echo.
