I still can't believe we found the length of their hair so shocking back then.

I lived in Philly back then. Often walked past the original MOVE house in Powelton Village in the 1970s. I was in Europe when the bombing occurred and read about it in the International Herald-Tribune. Later, I lived just a couple blocks from the subsequent MOVE house in West Philly around 43rd St.

I originally got the recipe from a long out-of-print 1973 cookbook Ethnic Cuisine: The Flavor Principle Cookbook, by Elisabeth Rozin. I've modified it many times with more veggies, and the original recipe adds rice in the last 20 minutes. Google will reveal many versions to experiment with.

Maybe some red wine, maybe a little spiked eggnog later, maybe some Peppermint Bark Rumchata as a nightcap. Usually it would only be a glass of wine, but it is a holiday weekend, after all. #SpoutingTipsy

Back in the 1970s, my wife, in NYC during her first marriage, was pushing one of her sons in a stroller and Ruth Gordon passed by and said "Cute kid!" to her. Me, I read one of her autobiographies back in the 1970s and loved it...and love her. Her books are out of print, unfortunately.

At some point I plan to create a list on The Literate Lizard website that will feature books I would never recommend anyone ever buy, with edits to the book descriptions as to why and how terrible they are.

In the misty past, my wife's first husband took her to a big playoff football game. She brought a book. Not surprising the marriage didn't last.

I also post this over on the bird site, where I'm able to tag many authors and illustrators (though it's now dicey as to trusting it is really them!) Hoping more authors join spoutible. Here is the only one I've found for this post: @LaSeletzky . If you know of others, please comment and tag!

I also post this on the bird site. Over there, I take the time to search and tag many authors. So far, I don't do that here, since I haven't found many authors here yet, and because, as even @cbouzy admits, search on @Spoutible isn't too robust. But if you know of any, please tag in a comment!

I've had some fantastic solo travels earlier in my life, including multiple month journeys in South America. I wholeheartedly urge people to not be afraid to travel on their own. In more recent decades, I've traveled with my wife, still to exotic locales and sometimes for months at a time.
