It doesn't even have to be social media. Caller ID identifies telemarketers as "Spam Risk." Anyone who uses text messages or email is familiar with spam. A couple of months ago, my 82-year-old neighbor brought his cell phone to me and said "How do I stop all this damn spam?!" 😂

…It’s not enough to be safer and kinder than Twitter. You also need Twitter’s former functionality. You also need a way for people to port their followers and, if possible, years of tweets. Without these things many people just opt out. They spend a few minutes on Twitter rather than hours…2/

I've tried these - Bluesky, Post, Mastodon, T2, Threads – and Spoutible is the only one that can truly replace how and why I used Twitter.
@cbouzy has done a great job and I think the lack of media attention for Spoutible has everything to do with the fact he's a successful Black founder.

To be clear, besides Bluesky, I support the other Twitter alternatives. Of course, I want people to use Spoutible, but I hope the others will succeed. The reason why I am not supporting Bluesky is because I have seen how Jack treats marginalized communities. Bluesky will be just as toxic as Twitter.
