It's pretty wild that this tradition, in some form, occurs in many cultures. Cailleach is a very complicated creature, and there's so many amazing legends surrounding her that we still celebrate in some fashion today. :)

Today's Color: Crimson. Cailleach, hag of winter, is about to make HER presence known. Many legends are associated with Cailleach so feel free to add them in comments! She appears on Feb 1st, if it's sunny, to gather wood for more winter. Cloudy? She stays in as Spring is coming. Sound familiar?

Each time I see trolls call this community a cult, I just laugh. The Spoutible community wanted a place to be themselves without fear of being attacked or bullied. So yes, people here are protective of this space because it's unique to social media.
