I haven't visited Spoutible in a bit. Been experimenting on Threads. But it looks like some great new features have been added here. Will need to check in more often. Also, hi everyone!

So, if you're in the driving world at all, please regale me with your tales of failure at your driving test. My daughter failed her first one and she didn't take it well. I want to relay them to her!

As of this moment, Spoutible is better than Threads. Carry on.

When my kids were young, I made them a promise. I'd buy any book they want as long as they read it. 15 years later... One rarely reads. The other reads 1-3 books per week. I'm not sure if college tuition or her reading habits cost me more. But it's still the best promise I ever made.

The very best recitation of a poem that ever happened! Amanda Gorman is an inspiration! Conveying aspirations to American. She should have her own holiday to celebrate how she lets us see America.
t. addison brown @conservationistahWhen day comes, we step out of the shade aflame and unafraid.
The new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.

Started reading this one recently. Whose experiments with new forms of government lead to European enlightenment ideas? In his previous books, Graeber discussed Native American influence. In this one, he zeroes in on Madagascar Pirate societies. Fascinating stuff. #amreading #PirateEnlightenment

We're talking about books, and so many good classics, but I recently read Piranesi and it was such an amazing example of world building and surprising fantasy. Highly recommend.

Wow. I'm gone for a few days and suddenly there's Dark Mode AND @JasonAlexander . @Spoutible is firing on all cylinders. How delightful.

I’m getting ready to appear on a foreign policy podcast. I’ll respond to everyone once I’m done.
In the meantime, I’d like opinions on a FP question.
Which African country do you think should be on the U.N. Security Council? I genuinely want to hear from you.

Currently reading 'The 1619 Project'. At first it felt (to me) like a lesser version of 'Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America' (even though it may have inspired that book?), but it keeps getting better. The Capitalism, Politics, and Self-Defense chapters are powerful.

A project I'm working on my buddy. We first made movies together 20 years ago. Now we're trying to use Unreal Engine for animation. Fun stuff. https://www.youtube.com/wa...

I've NO patience for claims that historians should do scholarship & not address the public
Historians should engage w/EVERY public
Talk re: democracy

Highlight gaslighting & correct whitewashing
If ever there was a time to engage w/the public for the sake of democracy, i

Today I started reading "The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams" by Stacy Schiff. Intriguing right out of the gate. #BookSpout

I recently connected with a writer/filmmaker working on a self-produced documentary focused on black female representation in the field of architecture. I think she's someone to watch. Her name is Lee Alisha Williams. Let's get her a bigger audience: https://www.0point4percent...

Just read this NYT article about a swiss watchmaker creating handmade watches. Turns out he's only making 25. They cost $85,000 each. And they're already sold out. I'd definitely say he's living his dream. And good for him. But suddenly my Pixel Watch feels like the bargain of the century.

"There’s an open seat on Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court.
This race will fill it.
It will determine the majority on the court: 4-3 conservative, as we are now, *or* a switch to a 4-3 progressive majority, which could change everything."

I'm slowly learning Unreal Engine, and today I managed to make what appears to be an office worker in a barren field dreaming of being a scarecrow? What you can't know is how many shortcut keys I learned and subsequently forgot during the process. #NotAnExpertYet

A small part of me is afraid one of these days the Normal 0% indicator will tick up, and I'll feel a little less human. "I'm more machine now than man."

Excited to read this one.
Bill McKibben @billmckibbenGreta Thunberg's new book about the climate, written with 100 experts from around the globe, is out today in the U.S. An essential reference!

First promotional spout. And it's only kinda self-promotion. Really I'm promoting Leah Saint Marie and Angel Daahoud Murphy, the talented hosts of a new podcast about screenwriting, storytelling, and the art of selling ideas. Please check it out. All feedback welcome. Thanks!

My daughter is taking her first computer science class in college, and I helped her identify and fix her first bug. I think the last time I was able to contribute meaningful homework assistance was middle school. AP Physics/Chem were not part of my skillset, but bring on the code! #happydad

Is anyone else having problems with the bird app today? It won't let me post anything from either of my accounts. Says I've reached my daily limit of tweets. But I haven't tweeted ANYTHING today. What a mess.
