I’m old enough to remember Newt Gingrich kicking that door open for Mitch. Newt destroyed the camaraderie of both sides of the aisle by changing the rules and demanding Reps not move to DC but stay in their districts. No more kids in same schools. No more neighbors you had to get along with.
