Did you read the end of the thread?
There's new info coming.

My point is that we once were certain we were alone.
Now we're certain we're too distant for anyone to reach us IF there are other intelligent life.
We seem to be on the verge of new info that could project ways around travel barriers.

A maxim I understand to be of Arabic origin is this:

"You cannot spit poison without first taking it into your own mouth."

This is worth thoroughly contemplating.

Ms Haley exposes what we already knew:
The GOP has embraced the Old South's belief that it is quite acceptable for a govt to strip citizens of their human & legal rights.
Trying to excuse the War that tried to protect slavery as an accepted practice weakens the Constitution & endangers us all.

Poverty means fewer choices & harder choices.
It means severe limits & crushing burdens.
It means compromise of your values & diminished rights.
There is no honor for principle when it sacrifices your family.
There is no strategy out with limited means, skill, or known options.

Poverty is slavery.

If the question is whether we 'should' always forgive, that's a different debate.

If we examine the function of forgiveness, forgiveness is grace that bestows a fresh start; it's a lifeline out of a corrupted existence.

Without forgiveness, it's harder to change, harder to abandon the corruption.

Near-martyrdom provides a lot of Far-RW cred.

May not be so bad; Scalise won't be moldable to MAGA-clown demands; the adults are taking charge.

Only problem is the INTENTIONAL & CALCULATED evil. So, more stability, but also more underhandedness & poison pill legislation.

Just learned 'echo' this morning.

And when the House Speaker wouldn't shut down & cripple the US govt at a time 'coincidently' convenient for this attack...
The GOP called for the Speaker to be removed, succeeded, then began dragging their feet to refill the position.

Putin must've been dancing with joy & laughing his head off.

And it all benefits Russia.

If Iran was behind Hamas, it can only be because Russia talked them into it the way Russia talked MAGAs to turn on their own country to tear it down.

I believe it's all from Russia, who needs to distract the US from financing Ukraine while tangling up the US in the complexities of Israeli politics.

But Dems tend to figure everyone is aware of the obvious, and they aren't.
We need to bring this up CONSTANTLY.
We need to bring this fact front of mind.
The moment someone thinks 'might not survive 2nd term' they should immediately think 'good thing Harris is ready!'

A federal law defining vigilantism not only targets 'lone wolf' actions, but also nongovernmental groups & even irresponsible state laws, like the Texan abortion reporting laws.
Authorizing the general populace to control citizens' activities via legal threat is state-sponsored terrorism.

TFG is still a 3-yr-old with a terminal case of the 'gimmies'. This is that child who thinks he owns everything he sees, who never shares and doesn't care.

When I look at that mugshot, I see a petulant man-child mere seconds from throwing a murderous tantrum.

You can stick a petulant child in a corner to think about what he's done, but a petulant child won't spend a second thinking about his error; he'll only dwell on how horrible YOU are to stop & punish him.
He'll spend that time thinking about how to get what he wants & how to get even with you.

"When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, & washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Then answered all the people, & said, His blood be on us, & on our children." Matt 27:24-25

Barabbas, in the New Testament, a prisoner mentioned in all four Gospels who was chosen by the crowd, over Jesus Christ, to be released by Pontius Pilate in a customary pardon before the feast of Passover.
Pilate tries to reason with the crowd several times, to no avail.

I don't know if I count as 'insomniac' anymore.
After being one since I was 9yrs-old, I'm now retired, so my circadian has completely jumped the track.
Apparently my 'day' runs very much in excess of 24 hrs.

Earlier today, I put in my membership notice at Twitter/X; I'm done with it.

Great read.
We really need roundtable discussions like this, maybe for those Sunday mornings/afternoons.
We need to get the public out of grievance issues & disrespectful interactions, get a diversity of political affiliation & start exploring solutions to mutual issues instead of hot button topics.

"Stand Your Ground" is bad law.
It completely reverses the Rule of Law premise of "Innocent until proven guilty".
It is state negligence to authorize assault by the legality-untutored, untrained general public without oversight, protected from consequence.
This is state-supported vigilantism.
