As a curious aside, I note the bright stars have six diffraction spikes, like #JWST , which had me curious since the Euclid mirror is a typical circular shape. The spikes do not come from the mirror shape, but rather from the number of struts supporting the secondary mirror.

Map below shows the projected number of extra days above 35C as the global average temperature rises. Today was one of those days.

Had these earlier today! Mostly my son prepared them. I added the honey on top. Had them as part of lunch with friends. Very good.

It's so far away that it takes a radio signal from Earth, travelling at the speed of light, 18.5 hours to reach #Voyager2 !

I'm sure the dreaded word count limit (the bane of writers) is at fault, but Phil didn't mention that Hubble and Slipher have this heroine to thank for deducing the true distance to those spiral nebulae.

The Euclid science consortium has made a 5min film about #ESAEuclid #FirstLight , what these images are, what #Euclid 's #science will be, and what the next steps are towards science-ready images.

This may be a common problem for all LEO (low earth orbit) sat constellations. In any case, it's unregulated. Hopefully they will address this proactively, now that they are aware.

The eventual decrease in brightness will however not be due to increasing it's altitude, but from changing its attitude, that is, its orientation.
