The tree carries several weeks´ worth of hoarfrost in its branches, which means that it was cold and cloudy / foggy for a long time indeed. But for a few minutes a few days ago, the sun made its way through the fog: the branches which extend towards the south shed some of their burden, which accumulated as a heap underneath. After that, frost set in again, once again putting a layer of hoarfrost on the branches.
