Welcome! Sounds like you're definitely hanging out with the wrong people. Once you start following/replying/echoing, you'll create a timeline based on your interests, and it's not going to be serious and bleak if you don't want it to be. Spoutible is what you make it. Have fun!

With the grid paper, it looks like your #dnd players are fighting a lair of Chocolate Chip Oozes. They don't move very fast, but they are STEAMING HOT and STICKY inside, and you can get enveloped by a blistering mass. Best strategy is to attack with cold milk first.

Dude. I came for serious political stuff & it took me a while to find that. In the meantime I laughed 'til I had tears, rediscovered fav songs, started taking pics for #DailyPictureTheme , &tried to make sense of the #Canadians .I've never had so much fun on social media. Welcome🐳! there is no algorithm on Spoutible, so only spouts from those you follow will be in your timeline. You need to follow a lot more people to have an active timeline. There are shenanigans going on in the explore tab right now so feel free to join in. This thread will help you too.

You obviously have not been looking in the right place. There are always food wars going on. There is lots of music. Follow the #BodiesOfWater , they are always good for a laugh or two. I find lots of fun here.

My only criticism of this place is the heavy emphasis on US politics. Being from Scotland I have zero interest.
There are some fun Spouters out there but you really have to search for them.
However, as more and more users join there is a transition, slowly but surely, to a more diverse experience.
