What? @cbouzy advertised Spoutible on Twitter on an unprotected account. Anyone who wanted to sign up for the first wave was welcome to. He talked constantly about policies and rules. Polls were open to everyone on Twitter. The policies were set before first wavers could create a profile.
Matlock @keyofw
The problem with saying "the policies were voted on by the users" is that it was all us #FirstWave people, and #Spoutible selected for a particular type of user. If we want this place to grow, we will have to allow for people who are different from us, with different perspectives.

"Anyone who wanted to sign up for the first wave was welcome to"

Yes, that's the First Wave

You're conflating first wave with "polls to set policies were open to everyone to vote on Twitter." If you wanted a say you didn't even have to sign up for the first wave.

Okay, but that still doesn't really solve the issue. The policies were still set by a very small sample size of people who cannot possibly be fully representative. The question is not "are the policies right or wrong" but "can they adjust to a changing group of people"

That's up to the creator of this private site to determine. If he says rules are set, rules are set.

No one is stopping anyone from creating a SM site with whatever community rules they want. That's the whole reason Spoutible is here!

This site is free to use but you join accepting the terms of service. If you disagree with them go elsewhere. The creator isn’t going to change the platform because some don’t like it
