Notifications older than 7 days will be automatically deleted. We had over 13 million notifications piling up, and most people weren't deleting their notifications.
Antony L @deltabadhandJust noticed my notifications from verified folks are cleared out. I had about 10 and was very proud of that! I even had a few from @cbouzy which were important in a Pokemon collect-em-all kind of way. I guess life will go in... 😥😉🤣07:53 AM - Sep 01, 2023

I don't know why this is such a problem for people.
You have been able to delete them from the notifications tab from the beginning just by hitting the 3 dots in the upper right. If you want to save any, just bookmark them. Easy peasy.

I didn't even know one *could* delete notifications. is this a thing at other social media? have I been missing out?
(on the other hand, auto-delete seems sensible, but only for notifications that have been read.)

You might want to update the notifications text at some point to say that the user doesn't have any *recent* mentions or spouts quoted - before seeing your message, when I had seen "you don't have any [...] yet" replace my lists of mentions/spouts quoted I thought it was probably a database glitch.

Is it possible to only delete some notifications? I only see a way to delete all notifications. If I can't choose which ones to delete, I guess I'll just leave them for y'all to delete the >7 day old ones for me.

Hey @cbouzy , maybe you can add "Notifications" to the "Profile Settings ---> Messages" section, so people can set them up to be deleted automatically after X number of days.

Just delete them from the notifications page, upper right 3 dots. If you want to save any just bookmark them.

I don’t understand why @Spoutible would delete my notifications.
I might want to see them again in the future if I am looking for something or someone.

We were! But I'm glad we know what happened. Now I can stop search for those old @ mentions.

Oops! Sorry! I hadn't deleted mine because I feel validated when people respond to my spouts and replies.
I'll screenshot from now on.

I didn't know you could delete notifications until yesterday.
Truth be told, it's a game changer for me in that that ability will make it much easier for me to keep track of new notifications.

Same, I had no idea. I thought it was like on other social media, that once you see your notifications, they're no longer highlighted. I don't think it's my job to take care of that. I only check new notifications.

Can you include Messages also? When I click on a message, if the account has been deleted or suspended, it sends me to a 404 page with no option to delete.

Just curious, do you also keep your email inbox full of emails you've already read?

As an owner of multiple businesses the last 25 years I've retained 100s of thousands of emails.
Not a week goes but when I don't have to refer back to old correspondence w a client or supplier.
This week I had to search emails to illustrate to USPTO how frequently my invention is illegally copied.

I have multiple folders for emails. Bills to pay, receipts from orders, bank stuff, medical stuff, and Xena stuff. Anything else gets deleted. I have emails that are 10 years old from a friend that died of cancer. I struggle with letting go of sentimental stuff.

I wondered the same thing, and I've been on Spoutible since day one. But if it makes the platform more efficient, I'm fine with the automatic cleanups.

What? You can delete and clean up your notifications? I never noticed that feature before!
