For me Self-care is understanding what my limits are, and this changes daily, and setting boundaries for me to follow, and for others to follow as well. Enforcing these boundaries has always been a struggle of mine but I'm gettin better with practice!

There's automatic self-care--like brushing my teeth. It doesn't require much attention. Then there's the self-care that requires I pay attention to this thing I call "self." How is it doing? What is happening with it right now? Is there any way I can give it nurture and love? Usually, there is.

I get it. Every time I work at the office, I stop at the outdoor gardens at the Botanic Garden on the way home.

I like to unplug from my phone and computer for the day. I do something creative. I catching a movie in the early afternoon. I journaling and make a note of the things I’m grateful about. I go on a nature hike and try to fully engage my senses. I practice saying no.

I have anxiety (and I suspect I'm autistic). I have learned that I need to limit my social interactions in order to not burn out. I've been doing so much better with this, and it's really helped. Being able to just tell myself, "You need to stop for today" has been freeing.

Working in our garden both flowers and veggies. It's a sort of relaxation or digging out problems whichever the day brings. Fresh air and dirt under the fingernails just makes me feel better.

Self care (for me) first means understanding my abilities and limitations, and setting boundaries around them that I enforce gently with myself and others. Then it's also about doing little things that help uplift me -- a phone call with a friend, coming here to lurk, playing with the dog, etc.

My self care is spending time in nature near water with doggo - park and the ponds. It's also about reading things I love and trying to look at art online daily. ❤️
