In Finland teachers get 2 hours to plan every day and the school days are shorter but with much more focused curriculum. Teachers are happier with the extra time to make meaningful lessons and students are learning more because the quality of instruction is better. The US could learn from this.

Someone I am close to spent some time living in Finland, with her kids attending Finnish schools, and she consistently gave them rave reviews.

As an American who’s Grands all came from Finland, I have read quite a few articles about how they got their education system back. We would never be able to pull enough people together here to do it. My youngest daughter says I got my socialist roots from my grands, could be worse.😊

There's too many states doing everything in their power to not educate their students.

I heard that in the very far, far distance past, schools in the US used to be two hours a day. Then it changed to match other school systems and it spiraled off from there. It's crazy how much curriculum studies it pushes to students today. I would mentally break trying to keep up.

Our current red-state practice is to defund an deconstruct public education, and not at all to look further afield for models that work better.

Education actually being a priority is a pretty important point to agree upon!
