@ChattyKathy Some nights I have to use Benadryl. It makes it hard to get up at 3AM to refill the wood stove, but I get a restful sleep.

Try getting off the benadryl and look into magnesium citrate. There are many types of magnesium, our bodies never get enough. But since I've discovered it, I sleep! I take 300mg at bedtime. I say it's a miracle, because I was waking up to 8 x a night. 🌺🐳

Magnesium citrate may be hard on the intestines for some people - causing diarrhea or gas. I use magnesium bisglycinate which is more gentle on the gut. And while benedryl may knock you out, it can leave people groggy in the morning. Also if taken regularly the sedative effect tends to wear off.

And the benadryl hangover, ugh. I hit the caffination station in the kitchen...

First thing I do when I get up in the morning is refill the wood stove. Second is pour myself a 24 ounce coffee regardless whether I used benadryl the night before. Third is give the kitties their treats. I have one who is very insistent.
