@ChattyKathy Some nights I have to use Benadryl. It makes it hard to get up at 3AM to refill the wood stove, but I get a restful sleep.

Try getting off the benadryl and look into magnesium citrate. There are many types of magnesium, our bodies never get enough. But since I've discovered it, I sleep! I take 300mg at bedtime. I say it's a miracle, because I was waking up to 8 x a night. 🌺🐳

Magnesium citrate may be hard on the intestines for some people - causing diarrhea or gas. I use magnesium bisglycinate which is more gentle on the gut. And while benedryl may knock you out, it can leave people groggy in the morning. Also if taken regularly the sedative effect tends to wear off.

That's why I take low dose. Enough to work. But I never get diarrhea, soft, yes, but better than constipation from drugs.
As I get older everything stops me up.
I agree about benadryl, it builds up and can interfere with true REM sleep.
