Yes, it's great for a soup base. And much simpler than I'd realized.

Yes. I save chicken frames, wing bones etc. in the freezer until I have enough to make a batch. I make it in the instant pot. Then I freeze most of the batch so I have homemade broth for later.

Not just chicken bones, all bones go into separately marked freezer bags for future stock. I also have bags for vegetable broth with collard green stems, blown carrots (NOT the leaves, they’re poisonous), dried out mushrooms, that bit of onion close to the stem, etc. Nothing gets wasted.

Every time I buy a rotisserie chicken from a grocery store, I make broth with the bones after shredding off the meat. I typically simmer for 4-6 hours. Perfect for making chicken & dumplings the next day.

At least 2-3 times a month. I have a simmer burner on my stove and I let it simmer up to 2 days. Glorious!

Seafood broth (fish bones and shrimp shells), chicken broth, beef broth, pork broth, and pot liquor. It’s a part of any good cook’s arsenal of flavor!

I'm vegetarian, but I make it regularly for the dogs from the bones of my husband's chicken meals.. They seem appreciative 😉

Lucky dogs. I’m going to start making fish dinners for my cats. Hey they’re our family.

Years ago when we had a wood stove it seemed we always had a pot on it doing up bone broth, same with at one of my grandmothers' house.

I've been making it for decades as the base for some of the world's greatest chicken soup.

We make bone broth all time. Chicken, lamb, beef, whatever. We slowly simmer on the stovetop in a covered pot for two days, adding salt at the end before storing in mason jars for use or freezing.

Freezable in ice cube trays for future use in many ways.

Isn’t it fulfilling? With any scrap bones. If I don’t have time right away I’ll put them in the freezer for when I do.

Yes, I have! Another recipe: take leftover roast chicken or turkey carcass (w/ lots of bits of leftover meat), put in a pot of water, w/ salt, garlic, ginger & simmer 4 hours. Remove bones, add 2 cups rice, cook 20 min. Top w/ green onion. Yum! I think in Korean, it's called Juk. Can be frozen.

All the time. Using a pot with a colander that fits inside (like a pasta pot) changed my life. Makes the straining part much easier.

Love it. If you have a slow cooker or an Instant Pot, the chicken carcass can do its thing hands-off.
