Way back machine -1981, when I spent time each week mixing, braiding & baking hundreds of challah. Humble Bagel Co - Eugene, OR. This is me. I think photo is by @lipsticktraces . I baked those baskets of bagels behind me, too. Ten years on that job. Seems so long ago.

My fond local bakery/bagelry memories--as a customer--are from about 5 years after that, and your photo brings them back. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to spark a good memory. I worked there until the end of 1989, so we may have crossed paths. Baked, mixed and made, cashiered, managed the deli when it first opened, handled a lot of bookkeeping. I learned a lot!

The very first bagel I ever ate was a garlic bagel from Humble Bagel. All others since are measured against that one. Very few even make it close. Warm and chewy! Slightly tacky from the garlic. Delicious!

We’d walk over from South and get Pizza Bagels for lunch. OMG. YUM.

Oh Tammy! Depending on the year I might have met you at the counter there! A Eugene landmark.

They were excellent bagels, and I’ve tried hundreds across the country.

I've always admired bakers from small, mom-n-pop shops.

It was a wonderful place to have as a neighborhood bakery. Very sad when they closed after 40 years in business.

We have a sweet little bakery up the road that’s open just a few days a week (Pacific Sourdough in Waldport.) I sat in the car outside last time we stopped by, The cinnamon aroma was so powerful and I was swept back remembering this job. #WantAGoodBagel #BreadAndButter
