I shared this with my better half, and then had a long discussion about how so many folks on the left were jubilant about the idea of Spoutible having a security breach. We are trying to provide a safe space for people to communicate, and for someone to celebrate an attack on the platform is gross.

And my #MondayThoughts aren't on the data breach, not exactly.

Headline speaks for itself.

I bawled yesterday. It is so hurtful to experience this heinous attack on our community. They chose the exact time it would hurt us the most, as Pods launched. The criminals and those rejoicing in our pain demonstrate exactly why we need this community.

We believe we need it because we (ironically) don't understand why they rejoice in that.

And presumably they welcome evidence of their success.

Referencing (always valid) feelings very secondarily to resolve is an option.

yes they people tend to rejoice in the pain of marginalized communities. Just reaffirming the power imbalance that exists. little empathy for LGBTQI + , POC’s, woman of color and then even further Palestinians, Muslims, immigrants. Hope we can attract these groups in future to Spoutible

Even when you do the right thing these days, you get attacked. Maybe even more so. The hateful, hypocritical, immoral cult of Trump would love to pound "good" & "right" out of society altogether, so they feel okay. That makes it even more vital that we support folks who do right, as @cbouzy did.
