A reporter I know and haven't heard from in months, randomly contacts me to lecture me about passwords. I explained to her we use bcrypt to hash passwords. Here is her response. It actually gets worse....

Then she accused me of not notifying our users about changing passwords and 2FA. This is an actual reporter with years of experience, and she didn't know we contacted our users within hours of learning about the vulnerability, and forced all of our users to use strong passwords. Wow...🤦🏾‍♂️

Sorry, but I didn't receive this email or any other email. I did, however have trouble getting into my account for several days. Finally, I had to use a browser to locate sign in page.

Twitter turned too many "reporters" into lazy asses expecting to be force fed their content. It is maddening.

Almost like someone told her that 2FA is a thing and she didn’t know that 2-factor is the same as 2FA 🤔

Don’t forget to attribute that quote to Dr. Maya Angelou.

Let me get this straight—you're the computer genius and yet she’s telling you what to do? She’s taken mansplaining to a whole new level.

So sorry you have to deal with this nonsense. I have at least two emails asking me to change my password and use a 2FA. Some people just want confrontation.

That she didn't, and wasn't one who got the email- suggests she is not a Journalist. Just my 2 cents.

Christopher- you set out on a noble path to serve folks like me; seems you've made some wealthy guys pretty nervous or something hey.

I recall Journalism as a Profession; were I a reporter doing a story on a platform I'd likely join and see what people were up against in the first place.

It seems like someone on Spoutible is spreading false information. People are so wicked! I hope I’m wrong!!! We just have to stay strong, stick together, and continue to make Spoutible the best social media platform ever. 🙏🏽

One of the first things I learned interning at a newspaper is that most reporters (and editors) are lazy and will go to the easiest source, not the best source.
And people just love to go to Twitter to look for "sources" now.
