Playing outside the box with today’s theme #Sear .
In 1972, I was working, registered to vote, tax paying, married WOMAN.
Sears was the only business that would give me, in my own name, a credit card.
I keep this card as a reminder - we cannot go back to being ‘less than’.

Sears popped in my head too!

My first thought was the Sears Wishbook! As a child growing up in the ‘70’s I would spend hours pouring over it and writing a very detailed Christmas list for Santa, down to page number, item number, etc 😂😂

Sweet memories.
With 5 kids in my home growing up, we scheduled times to look at the wish book. Only way to prevent fights.

Love your interpretation of today's theme. It's a great reminder of how much we gained in one generation, only to have it snatched away in the next. You're right. We cannot--will not--go back. 💪

Thank you.
Sometimes I feel I have to share some elder wisdom and remind people what was gained in the recent past and what can be lost if we’re not vigilant.

My mother's card, from Wanamaker's dept. store in Philly, was shown as: Mrs. John Doe
(my father's first and last name)

Yep.
Women were just so irresponsible we just couldn’t be trusted with important manly things like money.

Also, I spent a lot of lunch hours in Wanamakers shopping for ‘business’ clothes when I first started working in Philly. Loved that store.
