It’s been a day. My mother (85) is in the hospital refusing treatment for a bone infection in her leg. She still thinks that her other leg was amputated preemptively even though she literally had a bone falling out and her toes had fallen off. She thinks that she can beat this. They’ve told us…

She is likely to pass away but in great pain. She’s signed a DNR. Of course she is a diagnosed narcissist so she also thinks they will ignore that and save her at the last minute.
We went to sell her house to find out that she took out a reverse mortgage years

Ago because she thought her last amputation would kill her and she didn’t think she’d have to pay it back. It’s been years and the amount she owes has tripled. 🤦‍♀️
My RA is flaring from the stress.
All I can do is hope she goes peacefully.
She was not a good mother, makes things interesting.

I’m at peace with the past but my siblings aren’t and there are a lot of feelings flying around. Today was all a bit awful.
Anyway thanks for listening, had to get that off my chest.

Hopefully they will provide ample pain relief for her so she can pass on without suffering in excruciating fashion. I am really sorry for you, that is a tremendous amount of “stuff” to be dealing with. Families and siblings are most definitely complicated. Wishing you calm and peace.

Thank you!🙏
They said they’re giving her the highest amount of pain meds but she says it's not enough. I feel for them too, she’s a very difficult patient.
