So SOMEONE got to change the smoke alarm battery at 4:30 am.

I don't know why they never go in the middle of the day.

never fails, does it.

i think lower temperatures mean batteries source less current. so, the coolest part of the night ⇒ failing battery finally dips below the alerting threshold.
