Europeans ate mummies. #FactCheckMePlease

Accuracy Alert!

Based on the credible sources provided, it can be concluded that Europeans did indeed engage in the practice of consuming parts of ancient Egyptian mummies. This practice, which purportedly began around the 12th century, was often related to medicinal beliefs. The trade of Egyptian mummies for this purpose was quite prevalent and continued well into the 18th century, illustrating a long-lasting fascination and obsession with mummies among Europeans. However, it's important to note that this particular usage of mummies has ceased in modern times.

I knew this one. I once read a long article about the paint color "mummy brown" and it went into some other (gross and disrespectful) practices including "medicinal" consumption.

Well, I'm glad this usage of mummies has ceased in modern times cuz I think Egyptians got tired of hiding their loved ones only for Europeans to dig them up and take them back to their country.

True, but many, many of us share DNA with those same said 12th century and later Europeans so... we're all a little bit mummy, too?
