Yes, every woman has done at least one of these. Your sister, your wife, your girlfriend, your mother, your friend....every one.

My eye opener was my older sister talking about how different her experience of walking across our college campus at night was from mine.

For several months a rapist targeted single women in my neighborhood. I borrowed a few items of male clothing and tossed them casually around the house, near windows. I set the table for 2. It was so creepy.

Another option is go to the thrift store and get some BIG work boots and leave them at the door

And after being raped, that internal fear is frequent and palpable, but you are determined that you will not show it to the world.

I was at a pub one night and a woman walked over, guy walking behind her. She had a scared look on her face and she said "Hey, babe". And I quickly picked up on the situation. "Hey, my love" I said or something. But I knew she needed to avoid this guy. He then walked off.

I was walking back to my hotel while at a conference once, in a somewhat more remote part of San Antonio . Cab pulls up, cabbie say "you're being followed, GET IN" and then lectured me the entire drive back to my room and wouldn't take money. I stay closer to convention centers now.

Traveling alone soon. A male friend suggested I get a drink or two and enjoy being out and about without my family. I told him that I didn't think that was a great idea while alone - it hadn't occurred to him.

Starting when I was 18, in pre-cell phone and pre-internet days, I had a stalker who called himself Tommy Throckmorton. Followed me to at least four addresses hundreds of miles apart and seven different phone numbers. I have no idea who he was or if I knew him.
So, yes, I've done them all.

The first time I was followed for more than 4 blocks I was in 7th grade. Had to go to a warehouse to use their phone to call the policeThe last time wad followed for 40 minutes I called 911 on my cell. I went up to the gang bangers outside the liquor store and hid behind them until the police came

After being followed most of the way home while walking home alone 30 yrs ago, I had to duck into the police station for help. Now I park my car on the bottom floor and in my line of site so when I leave work I can get to my car as safe as possible if I’m unaccompanied. It was traumatizing. 🫤🤬

Yes, so true! However, yesterday walking home, I became leery of a young man walking toward me across the street. I kept an eye on him and was a bit alarmed when he crossed the street walking directly toward me, saying something. Turns out it was my nephew from across the street.

Yes. Followed to a home once. Parked in drive next to where I was. Other incidents are hazy in my memory. Cornered in a kitchen at a restaurant. Intimidation at work because I would not play.

When I was in my teens and a young adult it was all the time. Getting called names because I wouldn’t stop to engage with some stranger who thought he had a right to harass me and thought he was complimenting me. 🙄

Yep! I've done everyone of those. Also, add that when I was living in apartments, I always rented an apartment above the ground floor because women in ground floor apartments are more likely to be raped by a stranger.

So sad but so true. I traveled a lot in my career and always needed to be aware of who was around me, where my hotel room was located, parking my car under a bright light, walking with keys in my hand. The scariest places for me were parking ramps and the parking ramp elevators.

I've made real phone calls and asked the person on the other end to just keep talking to me until I got home. told them exactly where I was and that something went wrong if I stopped talking to them.
