"So, while I'm sure there are many who will claim we shouldn't speak ill of the dead, I would like to point out that Pat Robertson went out of his way to inflict suffering on innocent people grieving the loss of their loved ones."

The origin of that saying about speaking only good of the dead was the superstitious fear that they could come back and haunt you in revenge. Pure self interest. I think it's fine to be truthful about the dead, particularly when it's about righting wrongs they did to people who didn't deserve it.

Not speaking the truth about Pat "AIDS is God weeding his garden" Robertson, erases/minimizes/insults the countless people he's injured over the years. If speaking truth is speaking ill, so be it. We deserve the truth, be it good, bad, or ugly.

I fully believe in speaking ill of the dead. No need to downplay an atrocious person and their deeds at any point. That's like giving a hug to their enablers. Speak ill of hatemongers during and after their lives. But if you're a uniter, I'll speak wonderfully of you all the time.

I've been speaking ill of him since the 1970s. Why would I stop now? He's caused immense damage to our country. ZERO redeeming qualities.
I'm glad he's gone for good

I would love to eavesdrop on the conversation he had with God at the pearly gates when he was told he wasn't getting into the place he thought (Heaven) and instead is on the way to burning Hell!

It's such a dodge, most of the same people have no problem shitting on dead people they don't like. Osama Bin Laden for example.
Public figures that did bad things need to spoken ill of.

Good for you. I feel the same about him as I did about Limbaugh cheering AIDS deaths. Beyond deplorable.

I spoke "ill" of him when he was alive...I'm not a hypocrite so have no problem speaking "ill" of this colossal POS when he croaked.
