Saw John Wick 4 last night with the kids and we really enjoyed it. I was struck by the fact that it was pretty much a big budget musical with elaborate dance numbers and Keanu Reeves is Gene Kelly, but there's no music, only guns, knives, swords

The worst was a medieval-themed flophouse in San Diego. Thousands of roaches everywhere. Saw a man in a sleeveless undershirt framed in his open doorway, sitting on a milk crate, head in his hands, weeping. An artist at a better hotel offered to let me sleep in his bathtub & I was thrilled.

The first time I ever did a show in Austin I stayed at a motel next to the freeway that was filthy and terrifying. I blocked the door with the chair and coffee table and slept fully clothed with a hoodie on.

Being creative is weird. As soon as I set my notes for a new project aside and started in on my paying work yesterday, an entire new series just appeared in my head. Already adapting the Dani Dead design I'd been playing with to work for the main character of it.
