I’m curious — when the future update comes that will auto-split text into threads, will we still have the ability to start a new spout in the thread at will? Call it an idiosyncrasy, but I don’t like ending a spout mid-sentence (though, if need be, I can/will adjust).

That’s not what he’s referring to. People are typing up what they want to say, screen capturing it, then posting the images as a thread so the AI feature can’t summarize it.

Great question! Based on some results I’m getting, it doesn’t appear to be doing that currently. Would be really nice if that’s an option (or even if it could make use of alt text). Sometimes key info in a thread comes in the form of screenshots. Overall, though, loving the new toy. Thanks @cbouzy !

I’m just trying to help — it’s not a glitch. It works that way so that you can see responses to their posts under other people’s spouts. It showing up in Explore is most likely just the complete lack of algorithm on that page. But you can keep asking Christopher if you want.

If it’s a glitch, then it’s one that has been present for all 8 months the site has been live. I don’t know what to tell you that you haven’t seen it before but it’s been there — and not just on Spoutible, I’ve seen it on the bird app too over the years.

That’s not new. People have always had the ability here to make their spouts (including responses to others) visible only to people who follow them. Not sure if you’ve managed not to stumble across it or just missed it previously but it’s looked that way all along. I see it in Explore sometimes too.

I get that. And I suppose that was surely something Winthrop imagined the colony being — or at least hoped for. But when you look at the bare facts and the raw (unfiltered) history of this nation, it’s hard to argue we ever achieved it. And that goes well beyond just how things have gone “lately.”

The data that says he’s twice as likely *not* to have dementia? The data that says higher ed (which JB has) is assoc with lower risk? The data that says regular exercise (which JB gets) is assoc. with lower risk? The data that says that soc/cog engagement (which JB gets) is assoc. with lower risk?

And here’s the problem. You can’t say you’re following the data when it’s clear you’re being driven more by your personal experience. Look at *all* the risk factors, not just age. There’s some unknowable to us (fam hx, genetics) but of what we do know, he’s as low risk as is possible.

You realize, don’t you, that doing the bare minimum of telling the truth in front of Congress or a court in response to a subpoena doesn’t make someone a hero. They don’t get pats on the back for jumping ship after the coup failed. Where were they when there was time to speak out/act to prevent it?
