He's mostly back to himself. He still hangs a bit closer to me, but he's relaxed into safety again. Definitely appreciates his food and clean water more. I think homelessness must change you, even if you're a cat.

I think the most embarrassing thing about observing politics in my home state of Ohio isn't that the state voted for Trump twice. Rather, it's way more embarrassing to see J.D. Vance—a tech-plutocrat, Ivy-league Trump sycophant, & Social Darwinist—occupy one of Ohio's senate seats.

Pretty sure I hit this point about 2019 or so. Before that, I was doomscrolling and being terrified every time I did. Got so bad, I designated Sundays as news-free days. Then I got to thinking about what I was doing and why. That's when it stopped making sense.

Second, there was an underlying assumption that the goals were a fait accompli JUST because MAGA was talking it so openly. That thought only helped them, never us. At best, it gave them joy at upsetting us (more on that later). At worst, it discouraged us from fighting back.

Third, the MSM started feeding into this ugly mindset by putting as much clickbait and ragebait as they could. Agree or not, so long as you were reading, they were making their profit margins.

Fourth, despite the opposition's best efforts, they have failed to truly break us. The electoral defeats keep mounting and their few victories are Pyrrhic ones...and they KNOW IT.

When I put all that together, that's when I made a decision. I will fight them still...but with a clear head and clear eyes. True vigilance requires both. It also means acknowledging when the enemy is losing.

I believe he's running primarily in hopes of shutting down the prosecutions against him and avoiding prison or financial ruin as consequences of his own actions.
