Whatever you think of adult content on this site directly, this is not good language, it’s not good policy, and it is extremely fixable. @cbouzy I am happy to help try to come up with a policy that provides clear guidance, meets general aims of external bodies, while preserving necessary discussion.

Here's my book that won the RT Award for Best Erotic Romance & the Maggie Award for Excellence from the Georgia Romance Writers in the erotic romance category. Slow Surrender. I guess this one's safe since the image is just of a string of pearls, but CW: it's chock full of BDSM...just like my life.

So I've posted a few replies to my own spout with the book cover now. But I can only see one out of the four. When I look from another browser to see if it's a cache problem... I still only see one of the four spouts. So either everything is just flaky... or...?? Not confidence-inspiring.

Literally in 1992 if you went thru the entire Writers Market, Small Press Writers Guide, etc etc... you could find magazines and markets that accepted sf/f stories OR that accepted stories with sex in them, but not both. There wasn't ONE place I could sell my stories to. So I had to self publish.

The point I was making is that publishers will put really tame covers on spicy books. But they also do the opposite, putting the scantily clad "chicks in chainmail" on sf books that have not a whiff of sexy content at all. When I started Circlet Press it was bc I was told sf/f wasn't allowed to.

I don’t think the people who wrote the policy thought about the ways people talk about sex. Are we are going to argue whether HBO’s GOT is more rapey than the book series? Are we gonna discuss if that one sex scene in Bridgerton is a rape? Can I screenshot a court case about harassment?

Nothing in the policy prohibits directly advertising sex, as long as you are not sexually explicit or suggestive in doing so.

I turned off notifications of likes (which overwhelm the notification tab because they’re not aggregated) and the notification tab is now very reasonable! Hopefully they’ll aggregate soon, but that’s my temporary solution.
