Please know I'm 100% team Courtney Milan on this issue. I'm glad she's decided to find peace. Christopher was rude and unprofessional, including bringing up the past of her sexual assault/harassment in another post.
Courtney Milan @courtneymilan
Peace out, y'all. I'm not on this platform anymore.

The other thing Bouzy et al are missing about the TOS kerfluffle is that boundaries & consent are a HUGE tenet of romancelandia. Building good relationships/communities means communicating what is what clearly in advance. “I know it when I see it” is highly subjective & ripe for misunderstanding.

I want to get into Spoutible or even the other alternatives but seems like it's all safe places for politics(which is fine) and no safe places for people looking to just chat about their fandoms, hobbies, fictional books, art, etc. since it's nearly nonexistent atm =/

Am feeling mightily depressed and despondent about the fight with Romancelandia and Spoutible. I write romance, I do have skin in this game.
The terms need to be inclusive, not exclusive.

Bouzy’s response to Courtney was incredibly disrespectful and disheartening. It makes me think twice about being here if pointing out that the TOS are vague means getting attacked. So many ppl talking about porn and that wasn’t what the convo was about. Y’all need better reading comprehension.

Courtney Milan and Olivia Waite's questions about this site's TOS are valid. I would love to feel comfortable posting snippets of my work or discussing scenes where intimacy is a significant factor in moving a story forward.

If “we all get together and decide” is done by a majority, and that majority is ignorant or willfully ignorant or just plain wrong…? Yikes.

This is why I remain concerned. From trusted news source Judd Legum’s Popular Information: a book w LGBTQ characters is labeled “porn” in FL. “Who on Spoutible decides what is porn?” is a valid Q, because if it’s Ron DiSantis, or someone(s) Ron-adjacent, that a big problem.

"The trolls are coming out of the woodwork tonight. Don't feed the trolls" said someone who apparently was going into mentions and follows here unhappy about any discussion of the TOS issue.

Y’all. I really wanted to be happy here, but after reading the responses to queer romance authors like Olivia Waite and Courtney Milan trying to clarify the TOS, I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to be a place that’s friendly to queer people. Or romance authors.

I think Courtney Milan and Olivia Waite's concerns about the TOS here (among others in Romancelandia) should be aired and discussed.

Maybe because all along he's asked for input and knowledge from users and she technically has that from a pov he may have never considered. And damn right she's bossy about it she's had to be, lots of us have to be heard

Y'all need to know that Courtney Milan who is challenging CB on the TOS is not only a NYT bestseller but a lawyer that clerked under Sandra Day O'Connor and was instrumental in ousting rcist and rewriting policies for the Romance Writers of America.

thread about the importance of understanding fandom communities. I was working hard to make Spoutible succeed. But many of my creative associates have been smacked here for genuine concerns. Time to go.

While I appreciate the transparency, this means I'm likely done with the platform.
The reason I'm using Twitter is, of all major platforms it has the best policies for creatives.
NSFW art is an important part for the art community. These restrictions make Spoutible a poor twitter alternative.

So many things need to get normalized.

Going to therapy is another one. Mental healthcare is underutilized in America and has so many stigmas attached. #mentalhealth

Yesterday — yes, on Valentine’s Day — I had a recheck of the lump in my breast. “It is most certainly a lipoma.” Rechecking in 6 months. I post this because we need to keep normalizing mammograms. (Men, too. You guys get lumps, too.) Women, get your boobs squished every year. ❤️

I. AM. RUNNING.

You heard it here first! I am officially launching my campaign to unseat Lauren Boebert and restore dignity to #CO03 representation.

We lost by a mere 546 votes in '22 — the closest race in the country — and know we can make that up in '24.

In time for Valentine's Day--kinda, sorta--I read and thoroughly enjoyed "Calf Cleaving in the Benthic Black" by Isabel J. Kim in Clarkesworld Magazine. This was hands-down one of my favorite short story reads this month. It's decidedly dark yet 1/2
