THIS! When I went to Vancouver last year I went to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra scoring of a Harry Potter movie. It was amazing. I don't know if anyone else would enjoy it the way I did, but it didn't matter. Because I went and enjoyed it for and by myself.

Exactly. I was always fascinated with my random tweets on there that would go viral. They were never the ones I expected, for some reason, took off. Meanwhile, the things I thought were So funny got little interaction sometimes. The blue check never mattered.

Your use of the term "worthy" again has this connotation to the status envy that rocked Twitter. I guarantee there are plenty of non-verified accounts on here that have similar follow percentage. But because they don't have a blue check, you don't care who THEY follow.

I have a way I'd like to use my social media accounts. And just like I don't follow all 16,400 people who follow me on Twitter (I follow 285 people), that has nothing to do with "worthiness". It has to do with how I streamline information that interests me.

My objective opinion? Don't make this place feel like a cult. It's the quickest way to turn off people (like celebs) who could bring a lot more content and a bigger audience to the site. People are free to engage however they like. It's a platform, not an HOA.

If you look at how many Tweets I've fired off in the last 2 days vs. how many Spouts, Tweets take it by a mile. Why? I still have a bigger, more established audience there that feels valuable to my time. I don't engage a ton on IG because I don't have the same audience.

Give people time. Most people just started migrating in the last 3 weeks, testing the waters. People are still navigating it, trying to extend time to it here as well as their more established accounts, trying to build an audience worth spending time on. Spouts like this are a huge turn off, TBH.

That doesn't mean I think I'm better than everyone else, it means I have interests in certain people, or programs, or news outlets, and I don't just follow to make someone else feel good. I follow plenty of non-verified accounts on Twitter because more people are on there that I know.
