Really appreciate seeing this! The Ukraine sources I was listening to back when I was on Elmo’s site, is the one thing I really miss.

I was thinking global. Marriage seems like a religious word that creates opposition - remember I said this forwarding Indian Supreme Ct’s unanimous but sort of apologetic decision. Most men I know who have married each other think of fidelity differently than the presumed meaning.

They did in my youth. Really did change with Goldwater/Reagan/Southern racists ditching the Dems for GOP because Kennedy-Johnson-Civil Rights. But back in the day, Rockefeller, Eisenhower, Romney’s Dad were all reasonable (not that I’d vote for them but still…)

dude sounds really caught lol My favorite was him googling the price of gold just before deals went down.

He needs deLorean’s lawyer (got him acquitted even tho the jury had seen surveillance video of him in hotel room doing a wholesale coke deal, trying to keep car company afloat)

They’ve kind of screwed themselves in a way, by creating such deep red districts that they become one big echo chamber reinforcing Reagan’s “government is bad” message, hence are bad at governing. Trouble is, to the casual voter it looks like government cannot function so maybe autocracy…

I was thinking someone should invent a real board game that teaches packing and cracking strategy somehow. If it was fun enough, sort of like Risk (which taught geography & made defenders advantage real) and Monopoly (which taught agglomeration of $ as a spiral) it could teach [re]districting.

Exactly! 26 years ago I fled for the bubble of San Francisco - not gay bubble so much as enlightened bubble.

Indeed. Although so far, legally, things are way better for my tribe. 51 years ago was when the DSM finally took homosexuality out of pathology. I was 16 in ‘72. Being gay was either crime or illness. Today I could conceivably marry a foreigner & confer citizenship on him.
For now anyway 🥴

I reckon that was the point of the advice (and my use of gruesome). It may also deter new hobbyists fearful that they can’t accurately sort info / misinfo / disinfo on something so critical. Can the purported authors?

It’s really interesting. Old Masters’ work always kind of bugged me because of the wealth on display (but then who else could pay artists). I bet this owner guy will, if he wants, be able to sell or donate this work for a pretty penny. Such an analogy for being kept invisible (a la Ark & Fla).

Minor anecdote: the 1st combo pill #1 /day for HIV/AIDS, made by Gilead pharma of Menlo Park is called Atripla because it’s 3 drugs: efavirenz/emtricitabine/tenofovir (good example of easy/hard to remember).
Early in, Gilead reached out to my doc for naming ideas. He suggested “tridiva”

They actually do try to make the active ingredient hard to remember, and the name brand easy to remember. Just an example: Lipitor/atorvastatin.

I totally agree, was just writing friends earlier about it. Markey is right and I am glad he’s on it. This is a unique case with substantial public interest, both sides of the divide. The feed could be a dignified, dry unobtrusive C-Span like treatment.

I like to think I am a curator, since I have unlimited hours to read, so I pluck out things that strike me as not run of the mill news.

Should I lighten up, removing some gloomy ones?

Welcome!

Chilled me to the bone. Like one of those technological supervillains in a superhero saga.

Another person brushed it off as ‘he’s always been this way,’ but there is plenty daylight between SiliValley hard-hearted libertarianism & DeSantis style fascism, book banning & know nothingism.
