Also, for those of us with white privilege not being racist is a journey that will continue our whole lives. We tend to be blind to structural racism until it's pointed out to us. And it's so pervasive that we'll never see it all like BBIMP people do.

Saying you don't care what color someone is is a trope created by white supremacists. And you've lived with & received the benefits of white supremacy because you are white. That in itself is something we as white people need to acknowledge. The blanket statement is correct. I acknowledge that.

I was told just this year that while a man created the machine, it was a woman who invented the pressure plates. Try asking your tech to use hand adjustments. It is somewhat gentler that way.

The Wired article talks about me using my savings to fund Spoutible, and that is true. I wanted to put my money where my mouth is and launch Spoutible without VCs. With the help of the Spoutible community, we made that happen. I also opted not to monetize with ads until the platform was stable.

Totally agree. That scene made me reflect on what it means to be a good white friend. I would naturally be offended but I’m pretty conflict averse so it’s unlikely I would make a big ruckus.

Also, the scene at the restaurant with her white friend. This made me examine myself, because I would have blown up as well if I had experienced this. But that’s not always a helpful response. That made me do some self reflection as a white person and what being supportive really means. #caste
