Supposed liberals asking why the TOS language is an issue: MeToo isn't over, queer bodies and lifestyles are being attacked on the merits of parts parts daily, media that contains an iota of intimacy, including network TV shows, romance novels, and even YA books focusing on bodies, are bannable.

They’re just referring to discussing their books, reviewing books, etc - not exposing you to pornography.

Ma’am, there’s a simple solution to your so-called problem. Don’t follow that kind of account. You’re more than welcome to make choices for yourself. No one invited you to make choices for everyone to suit your version of morality.

I’m perplexed why it’s troubling to anyone that we want better wording in the language. The odds of them coming across anything they don’t like within the arts and writing community is unlikely if they aren’t following the people in it, and it’s not like we’re asking to post genital pics. 🙄

I am so disheartened by the supposedly liberal users of this site, like you, who are so incredibly condescending to queer authors concerned about whether the lack of clarity in the TOS will be used to hurt us.

I have no idea why ppl think they get to tone police in this manner. No. Stop doing this.

I’m sorry you feel this is a place to discuss issues related to your “work” that some of us who prefer to keep our phones and devices family friendly find unsafe. I’m a first waver who voted against porn on this site. My grandchildren often play with my phone. Nothing personal to you or anyone.

Worth noting that this person blocked me for, apparently, insufficient prissiness in my few scant contributions to the ongoing discussion.

I'm really tired of making every corner of my life "safe" for some Sunday School hall monitor's pale sheltered children. Life isn't a Disney princess movie.

I admire Senator John Fetterman for openly seeking treatment for depression at Walter Reed.

Back in 2010, I was hospitalized for depression. I would not be alive, let alone in Congress, were it not for mental health care.

Millions of Americans are rooting for you, Senator.

I am a former adult sex educator & would also happily contribute to drafting a policy with clearer language that protects ppl who are opposed to any "adult" content and that also protects those who want uncensored options. My concern is that "adult content" restrictions often target queer ppl first
Courtney Milan @courtneymilan
Whatever you think of adult content on this site directly, this is not good language, it’s not good policy, and it is extremely fixable. @cbouzy I am happy to help try to come up with a policy that provides clear guidance, meets general aims of external bodies, while preserving necessary discussion.

Makes sense. Clear boundaries are never a bad thing. I’m okay with Mapplethorpe photos, links to hot #Romancelandia writers, LGBTQIA+ positivity, etc., not so much surprise penetration GIFs. Surely there’s a way to clarify, and @cbouzy should do that.

This is a generous offer, @cbouzy There’s a huge community of writers&readers called Romancelandia & an equally large group of YA (young adult) readers w writers whose YA books are being banned simply for including LBGTQ characters. We are all on edge. Please let @courtneymilan help you clarify.

Wondering if @cbouzy can clarify what the Adult Nudity and Sexual Content policy means for writers since they are moving over from Twitter. Particularly posting about and linking to romance novels with adult content. Some are concerned they will get in trouble.

Yep, also things as simple as posting a picture of yourself in a bikini at the beach, or consensual flirting. The absolute most generous interpretation is, this needs much much better wording.
