I saw it three times in the theater. Got it on VHS as soon as it came out. (Upgraded to DVD later, of course.) Watched it a whole bunch of times over the years.

I've rarely met anyone else who'd even heard of it before. Which is a shame, because it's such an AMAZING movie!

Several of his claims were "dismissed without prejudice" for failure to state a claim, with leave to refile. That means his complaint was thrown out because he didn't have any kind of case, but he gets to try again.

I don't know you, or Pat, or how much either of you makes. But a mobility aid to help a good friend better navigate the world doesn't strike me even remotely as a "boyfriend or husband" gift. It strikes me as something you do to help someone you care about, when it's in your power.

My own preference is strong anti-gerrymandering standards (to keep districts competitive) and public campaign financing to put an end to the current system of legalized bribery.

If my rep actually does a good job, I WANT them to come back for as long as they can win fair elections.

I hate the idea of legislative term limits. It means all the institutional memory is held by the lobbyists who will de facto run the place, and that all Congressmen and Senators are incentivized to go to bat for whoever can offer them the best job when they're termed out.

Forget impeachment. Congress can set standards of conduct for judges, and define a judicial process to see if a judge has breached it. If a judge ceases to be on "good Behaviour", the Constitution itself fires them; they are ineligible to continue to hold their office.

Art. III Sec. 1: "The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour"

What's "good Behavior" mean? I'm pretty sure the judges don't get to define it themselves. But Congress can, under the "necessary and proper" clause at Art I. Sec 8.

My plan WAS to join a group bike ride this evening, but it turns out the temperatures will be in the mid-90s.

My NEW plan for today is to hide out in my nice cool basement and read.

Spoutible doesn't tell me lots of stuff. On the other hand, sometimes it tells me I have new notifications when I don't.

It's a new site, so probably gonna be buggy on many fronts for a while.

Based on my experience this morning, "reading" actually means "scrolling." Anyone with a reasonably active Twitter feed will get locked out pretty quickly.

Hoping more of my mutuals take the plunge and start spouting over here.

1) Add a new Associate Justice every odd-numbered year. No limit on seats.
2) All appeals are handled by the 9 most-recently-appointed Assoc. Justices.
3) Justices can come out of retirement.

Pass this reform in spring of 2025. If Breyer comes back, appeals will be to a 5-4 D majority by fall.

Are collaborators notified that someone else is already drafting a spout on the thread? Just in case they want to wait and see what the next spout is before they post?

Down the line, think about extending the edit window for every spout in the thread to seven minutes after the final spout in the thread is posted.

If someone spends 12 minutes crafting and spouting a 20-spout thread, they should still be able to edit the first spout (once) after they're finished.

In just over 13 years on Twitter, I acquired a total of 89 followers. Although, to be fair, I made ZERO effort to get any over there.

I've also made zero effort to get followers on Spoutible. And in just over two months here, I already have 57.
