Chocolate absolutely rules. It did then and does now.

I was kind enough to wish my sister a good life with her partner and children, and mean it. But I also told her I prayed no one ever treated anyone she claimed to love with a fraction of the cruelty she treated me with for decades.

It took 3 years of pretty intense therapy for me to work out who am I and how I react to things because of all that I survived. New Montiese walked through a lot of fire but she's better for it. And I'm free.

But now I'm free. Not only that, I don't have any fuckin family members coming at me with that "family is family" bullshit and how at the end of the day family is all you have. If that were truly the case for me, I would've been dead by 15.

Being free of her is better than being out on parole. It's like the last day of parole. Everyday is the last day of parole. For 30 years she abused me, physically, psychologically, emotionally, financially, I don't think she ever had a kind word that wasn't a veiled insult. Never once.

A year after, when she knew for sure she'd never have me to kick around again, sent me what my friend Faith still refers to as a "Mad Libs" apology where she centered herself and blamed me for any issues we have.

I told her we have no issues. We have no relationship and there's no need to revisit.

It still took another solid decade to have her really, really out of my life. I have many good moments in my life I can go back, look upon, and live where I was when something happened. One of those moments is when I finally (figuratively) cut that bitch to tatters after mom died & closed the door.

13 years ago today, the sister I cut out of my life (during one of the times I was trying so hard to just be her sister and have her like me),
emotionally abused me on Facebook in front of all the people who really cared about me, and harassed me for eating chocolate when I was too fat.

Been mostly on BlueSky, where @scalzi and @neilhimself do most of their posting. A lot of my friends from xitter are on BS, but aren't really active, so I have to stay on THAT platform, too, just so I can keep in touch. Only a couple of my real friends are here.

It's really frustrating.

I’ve watched this movie dozens of times and still laugh and cry at all the same scenes.

My hours are gnarly af today with my doctor's appointment smack in the middle. But after the appointment I will go to vote.

It took 2 Constitutional Amendments, 150 years, and an act of Congress for me to exercise my rights. You'll never catch me slippin, not ever.

I received personal "thank yous" from 2 Mayoral candidates in my city's upcoming elections.

Why the thank yous?

Both said their thought processes and policies on addressing affordable housing were greatly enhanced by the forum I co-chaired.

A nice way to end the week. ❤️

I have almost 6800 spouts. We've only been up and running 8 months. I've been running my mouth like crazy. I hope I've made you smile, laugh, think, maybe said a few things worth remembering or exploring further. I hope I've been kind but take no shit. I hope there are more conversations to come.

Shut up! Are you kidding me? I've met like 4 people here who love this movie and that fills me with such joy. I truly, truly love this movie. I'm so glad Cinemax played foreign films because I stumbled onto years ago, I don't remember exactly when. It quickly became my favorite.

Favorite book: Sense & Sensibility

Favorite movie: Antonia's Line

Biggest regret: well today its not applying and then going to graduate school to get a Masters in history.
E.G. for Example @EricGrevstad
Favorite book? Favorite movie? Biggest regret?

To be fair I'll answer: "Jane Eyre" and all of Hawthorne; "Casablanca" (too old to say the "How To Train Your Dragon" trilogy); not spending enough time with my sister and nieces.

Somewhere in the world there is an honest hard working person who sees wrongdoing, negligence, greed, or cooking the records (financial, regulatory, or healthcare) and they think to themselves, I just need to keep my head down, do my job/my part and get to my pension…
That’s how all this happened

I don't know if Tim Scott is gay, and I don't really care. I also don't feel the least bit sorry for him being hounded by gay rumors. His career has been defined by his anti-gay hatred. At some point, every disbelieving face becomes acquainted with an uncaring leopard.

I wrote about a doorway to a different future that once seemed open, a grim anniversary of the event that seemed to close the door, those who did the closing, some things we ought to Never Forget and all the things we are urged to Never Remember.

Hey guys, I'm not going to say too much about it but I had to say goodbye to my Bella tonight. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But I wanted her to go with her dignity and I had to let her. She crossed over the rainbow bridge. ❤️💔

But the ones that came out before Nightmare, like The Thing, Halloween, Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, classics like Frankenstein, and the Hammer films of the 60s, scary movies I watched with my dad, they still scare me but it connects to a great memory of TVs on the porch during summer.

I got a Dum-Dum.

When I quit smoking in 2018, I bought a pound of bubble gum flavored Dum-Dums. It fulfilled my want of bubble gum but my need of hand to mouth for the oral fixation that a lollipop provides. I'm over 5 years nicotine free.
