When I was a mechanic, I was installing a battery (something I'd done 100s of times) and accidentally closed the circuit with my wrench. Reflexively, I threw my wrench into the air, then went to pick it up and burned my hand. I kept that wrench with its melted tip as a reminder. That was only 12V.

Our grandkids, 3, all came over to spend the night, decorate a little tree, have dinner and just be together. Ages 20, 16 and 9. Their idea. They know they're always welcome and since they live within walking distance we see them a lot.

Someone once said that the voice in your head is often made up of the voices you heard growing up.
Mine is so self-critical and puts me down so much that I believe it. It's taken so long to retrain my brain.
