Bentley was a gender-bending performer during the Harlem Renaissance. Donning a top hat and tuxedo, Bentley would sing the blues in Harlem establishments like the Clam House and the Ubangi Club.

Just turned in the script for DARTH VADER #37 . I've now written more consecutive issues of this series than any other in my 19 years in comics. Thanks so much to my editors, to all the incredible artists who have worked on the book, and to everyone reading it. 🖤 #comics #DarthVader #StarWars

Last summer I had several of my favorite comic runs bound as library editions. Designed the covers myself and mailed them to Houchen Bindery to assemble. Much prettier and more accessible for casual reading than if I'd put them in bags and boards. Highly recommended.

Tying in with AI and Spam, Chat GPT and the like, Neil Clarke of Clarkesworld has an article about the submissions he has received since 2019.
It's alarming if you love reading and want to support short fiction.

I just finished watching the first season of The Peripheral, the tv series based on William Gibson's great novel. It's an excellent adaption and I very much look forward to the second season.

Want to know more about my forthcoming book? I made a very vibe-heavy trailer that I am unduly proud of: https://youtu.be/04OE5YKyU...

I just talked to Laird. He's doing much better, is more mobile, feeling good, and hoping to get home soon. Even so, he doesn't feel he has the energy to get online yet but promises to tweet once he's home and stronger.

Reasons Oona is mad at me today:
-I won’t let her chew on my foot.
-Her head has gotten too big to fit under the ottoman.
-I left the room for forty-five seconds.
-I won’t let her drink my wine.

Kind of an awkward time to update, but I hate to leave it blank. Just got back from a round-the-world trip! Yay! Now hospitalized for treatment for a very rare lymphoma! Less yay! But I'm doing okay and having fun still. No sympathy needed. Irreverent observations coming soon. Nice to see you all!

Realized one of the reasons I've got such a gut level negative reaction to ChatGPT and AI art is that I personally hate pranks and bullshit and both of those things are going to vastly increase the pranking and bullshit we see in daily life.

A thing I'm enjoying about Mastodon and Spoutible so far is that very few people I follow are falling into the sucker's game of boosting right wing trolls whose business model relies upon being boosted by angry progressives.

Someone I loved died last weekend and I’m not going to lie—the last week has been really tough. But this morning, a fictional character in a book I’m reading died and it unlocked some very needed tears. This is the power of books—I feel less alone in my grief after reading today.
