And what, pray tell, would her surveillance do to me? I have had five confirmed pregnancies and five miscarriages before 8 weeks. Am I a serial killer to her? What might the state do to such a woman?

We’ve tried to come up with a total number of quilts my grandmother has made over the last 25 years. Each of her six children, their spouses, and grandchildren have 2-3 apiece. A legacy of love for sure.

I’d suggest toxic femininity is also a malignant outgrowth of patriarchy in an attempt to “tame” toxic masculinity by acquiescing and appeasing it.

Local control—with educators making decisions for the children in front of them—is still the most preferable. Any distance between the teacher and the children will only worsen outcomes. I started my career with NCLB and the farce of RTTT. I’m struggling to stay.

I spend more time raising other people’s children to be responsible, respectful, and kind. When they aren’t, it’s up to the school to fix it. We have many with trauma and anxiety disorders who get the only counseling available from school guidance. And we just had layoffs.

Insignificant Events is first. Momentous Events is the sequel. It’s more of a falling-for-the -wrong-person and middle-school drama story than book 1.

The main character is a girl named Aven who was born without arms and was adopted. She isn’t limited in any way and her body difference isn’t the heart of the plot. It’s a mystery, a friendship story, and a story of the family you make. I adore Aven Green.

I opened a forgotten box at grandpa’s lake house and said, “What’s this game?” A panicked aunt snatched it and I never saw it again. 1988, maybe.

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry you had that experience. I completely agree with you on all counts about the insanity. During student teaching our school was put on lockdown due to an armed bank robbery down the block. We had officers with rifles outside our classroom. That was terrifying enough.

It’s abhorrent. I’ve said it before: they expect me to protect a room full of terrified children with a handgun and a mug of lukewarm coffee (an actual suggestion from police trainers) against an assailant with a high-powered weapon with extended magazine and tactical gear? Under duress?
