Our girl, 15 and rather slight, held her own in a pie-eating contest at school today - this 9th grade girl came in 2nd to the 12th grade boy who's won every year! (The other two contestants in her group were 10th and 11th grade boys.)

I think we're probably saying the same thing. I see state and local politicians deciding what subjects will be taught or ignored and what services are available. It's ugly. Educators have little control despite professional and personal qualifications.
