Only in America is it common to come home from doing something normal, just to see a headline that a bunch of people somewhere else in the country were shot doing the same or similar very normal thing. Like it's just some sick roll of the dice at this point who is at the wrong very normal place.

#COVID minimizers love asking the bad faith question "how few deaths would you be willing to accept before you'll stop advocating for protections?"
This is not how public health works. Public health should always be striving to prevent as much death & chronic illness as possible.

COVID hasn't magically gone away. #COVID has transitioned from a short-term emergency into a long-term tragedy. This means that leaders need to be taking sustainable action to address it, not ignore it.
12:50 PM - May 17, 2023
There is no silver bullet solution to mitigating the harm caused by #COVID . We need masks, clean air, vaccines, treatments and more. None of these things are perfect, and none alone are sufficient to prevent all the harm being caused. We need them all. Keep speaking up for layers or protections.

I’m a rabbi. I don’t say this lightly: This is what it must have been like to be a Jew in 1930 in Europe. It doesn’t feel real & you can’t believe it’s actually going to get worse – that they’re going to do the things they say they’re going to do – & then it gets worse.” #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Student was going home regularly to help take care of her grandmother w/ stage 4 cancer. Grandmother went to ER for breathing treatment, got #COVID in the hospital, & died a few days later. WHAT. ARE. WE DOING?

Met with a student today who's had #COVID several times. She's had a cough for a month that won't go away. Constantly sick. Doc tells her she just needs to rest more. She does not mask. Another student has terrible brain fog, can't really speak in complete sentences. Doesn't mask.

Over 65yr old colleague w/ late-stage (prob terminal) brain cancer who's been on medical leave attended campus event today unmasked. Partner also unmasked. Our govt/society's failure to communicate risks of #COVID to immunocompromised folx (let alone the rest of us) is absolute dereliction of duty.

Most colleagues near and far are no longer masking. This makes me indescribably sad. I don't want them to suffer from #LOngCOVID . But some of them will.
Collectively we are failing each other. That champions for justice cannot see this particular kind of inequity is depressing. #CovidIsNotOver

So, I wrote about *that* mask study. We need to stop giving so much air to bad faith actors. Their goal is to exhaust us and numb us into losing empathy and giving up. Masks protect ourselves and our communities. Let’s put that science into action.

#COVID -19 Masks are like seat belts. People have to wear them, correctly, every time they are using their vehicle for them to work.

Our #Trans brothers & sisters are under attack & need our help. It's a non-stop barrage of harassment, violence, & hate. They just want to live their lives in peace, yet that simple request seems to be too much for too many. Call out & fight transphobia. #TransLivesMatter #ProtectTransKids
