If even texting is too much for phone-phobic introverts (that's me) check out https://votefwd.org. It's easy and most campaigns don't get mailed until October- so write at your leisure (and it's only a couple of sentences)

This is an XEQ card from a FORTRAN program. My first FORTRAN program I punched QEX by mistake and the entire computer shut down. The guy who had brought me into the inter sanctum to use it was horrified. Apparently I was there without permission and he was sure I had broken something. Good times.

It wasn’t a bad job, although it was noisy. At least it was in an air-conditioned office.

In high school, I managed a job in an air-conditioned library while my peers often worked in the shaded tobacco field of Connecticut. That was a terrible job!

In our graduate student days, which lasted a decade or more, we relied on checks taking three days to clear. The balance always ended up negative at the end of the month.

I was a keypunch operator for my last two college summers. Sort of like a typist, but no errors allowed. In fact, the best key punch operator ran a machine called the verifier, they would just retype everything and if there was a hole where there shouldn’t be one the card would be rejected.

My polling place was totally empty. I asked the poll worker if it had been like that all morning. No, he said, it’s been quieter. Another added that Connecticut needs to move its primary to before super Tuesday.

I have daffodils too, and will have forsythia next week. It’s way too early. Someone told me earlier today that after five years we kind of normalize this weather. But March never used to be like this when I was a kid.

One thing about forsythia, good or bad, is you can’t kill it. I routinely cut it to the ground and there it is again the next year. But my husband really liked it so I am resisting digging it up completely.

“That” head cold? The one that lasts weeks? I had to cancel a bunch of appointments last week and every office I spoke to said oh yeah. I had that for four weeks. Or, my kids have that and it just drags on

It wasn’t easy but around our 45th year together we started calling pros to do the work. Five years later, when my husband died, I asked the young kid who does my yard work to be my landscape husband. It’s worked out very well. He does the hard stuff I do the fun.

Adjuncts can be amazing instructors, but they often work without offices, at very low pay, and with no benefits. One of my husband’s colleagues taught six courses at three different universities each semester just to try to pay his bills 2/2
