Hate is a tell.
There is no good person in this world who ever lived who needs you to hate anything or anybody.
Be aware when someone is trying to get you to hate something. They’re not doing it to help you. They’re doing it to use you.

An homage to 9th-grade Typing teacher Mrs. Witt.
A nice enough older lady, who took her Olivettis seriously.
When I think about the skills I use everyday, typing is right up there. Thanks, Mrs. Witt.

All this talk of my middle school HomeEc class makes me remember that time we made Girl Scout Ice Cream, step by step.
Ah, Mrs. Scheibe would be so proud. Turns out I’m a lot better at making ice cream than I am at making T-shirts.

Starting off -- here was the survey of Spoutans picking Thin Mints for our flavor.

I still remember my middle school Home Ec course with Mrs. Scheibe. One of our final exams was to make a T-shirt from scratch. It was fun.
I also remember how forgiving Mrs. Scheibe was when I handed her a finished shirt with holes in it where I got a little out of hand with the stitch remover. B+

Rachie Q @RachieQMy almost 10 year old made the mistake of telling me he did sewing at school on Friday and intimated that it was problematic because he is a boy. You better believe I told him about all the men that sew and knit.07:55 PM - Dec 22, 2023

This is a brilliant thread, making important points in as well-written way as I can imagine.
I wish I could write my own thoughts this well.

They know what they, themselves would do if they also know they'd get away with it.
They gaslight us.
The anger is because the gaslighting doesn't work anymore.

Had a great time in Reno visiting the #CatsInLaw . Family and food was great.
Reno is such a funny town. It doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be.
These two billboards placed right next to eachother was hilarious to me. Quite the story being told!
I guess the moral is “watch your backs, folks!”

Thanks to all who saw my puzzle “The Sounds of Music” in the Sunday NYT. The good comments on all the boards were fun to read and the bad comments were even more fun.
I hadn’t intended on the war between “SO” and “SOL” among musicians, and if it weren’t so niche I’d make it a #SpoutWar here.

It’s Crossword Day! With a debut puzzle by your favorite Guy Smiley host in the New York Times!
Pick up a copy and play the puzzle that has early reviewers saying “are these music references just for old people?!?”

Our hearts go to our friends and family getting stomped with tornados in Nebraska right now.
Tornados are usually survivable events, and Nebraskans by and large are very smart about their safety measures. These are awfully big. I hope everyone’s ok.

I’m stuffing goodie bags for a party and realize I don’t have enough tissue paper to go around.
So I’m thinking… what if I use actual tissues? The guests will be all “hey look at that - free Kleenex! This guy’s a hero.”

You know who would be fun to talk to?
The very first butt-dialer in the world. Did they know they were making history? Did they have anyone to talk to about the momentous occasion?

Wow what a game so far. Tough that Caitlin had that little lapse of attention on her dribble to give SC a buffer to their slim lead, but still, what a half.

This is of course true. Yet…
There’s a hill I may yet die on: “Apology” is overrated. “Acknowledgement” is the good stuff.
Refusal to apologize is refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing. Fake apologies that also avoid acknowledgment are every bit as common.
Apology overrated. Acknowledgement good.
