Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of people on the list who are very active members of the community.
There are people on the list who aren’t that active, but behave similarly on other platforms.

I’m going to try to get better at following more people.
The ones who actually log in and have something to say.
Because just off the top of my head, I can think of at least 20 people who deserve to be called a Top Account.

I'd much rather know what the most liked post was in a particular month.
Or who dishes out the most likes and echoes.
That is a hell of a lot more important to me than a bunch of people who only come here when Elon pisses them off.

I have quite a few of those people blocked on the bird app, so I'm definitely not following them on here. One of which is a chick I had a short spat with for saying some racist shit. Then we mutually blocked each other. Fuck her for sure.

I carefully curate my "following" list so just because some account has 9,000+ followers...and under 10 spouts...I'm not following. And, if their spouts are thoughtful, thought-provoking, or LOL funny, and not just echoing every single time with nothing original, they're worthy of following.

However, Bouzy is the only one with real data and statistics.
I'm doing everything I can as an outsider & amateur in my free time.
A lot of people, especially newcomers, really appreciate my list. They simply don't know who's on Spoutible.

It's cool that you make these. I love this kind of stuff and it's got to be a lot of work since you have to go searching for all the info yourself.
My biggest gripe is when people only follow the inactive verifieds and then complain there's no action. I think that reflects poorly on the site.

Dani. I know I’m on it. But the list makes me uncomfortable for many of the reasons you say. I don’t echo it for this reason. There is not a lot of rhyme or reason to it. And certainly not indicative of who one should follow. Some of my favorite accounts have under 1000 followers.

In your shoes, I don't think I'd feel uncomfortable. If the metric is followers, you should be on it. And even if it was based on something else, you participate a ton.
My big thing is people who complain about it being quiet or not seeing engagement when they only follow inactive accounts.

Yes! I don't particularly need to be heard but I did want to start a conversation about how to engage volunteers locally, especially younger and more diverse volunteers, but have not been able to get that discussion going. How might you and @danismashingit suggest that I do that? Wanting to listen!

Some person was encouraging follows and promised followbacks yesterday. I did the quick math was that his Following number was less than 3% of his Follower number.

Well that's pretty icky. I know there's lots that do follow for follow. But if you're not engaging what's the point?
I think a lot of people just want to say "I have x followers", they don't actually want to talk to any of them.

That was Tristan Snell. He pulled the same trick in Feb. Promised to follow back everyone who followed him over a weekend. He gained several thousand followers that weekend and then didn't follow a single one back.
I'm surprised he's so willing to tarnish his reputation. Don't fall for it again.

The very first thing I thought when I saw that list was how many people I followed early based on their presence from other media. Allison Gill caught my eye because she was one that I knew was here in name only. I won't go to 🐦 to follow anyone. I may have some housekeeping to do.
