I made it clear before launching Spoutible what the policy would be. What is rude is people not caring about the legal and financial ramifications of allowing adult and explicit content. And for the record, I did listen to the users, and they voted NO. So should I ignore the majority who voted NO?

Some of those votes were very bad.
The posts are too short.
Handling of video not great.

I voted no. Still feel that was the correct choice. Thank you for keeping Spoutible the place we asked for.

Agree. Plenty of places to access porn. Not on here. I voted, no porn. Spoutible should be for sharing intelligent opinions.

I like the nudity on Twittelon , enjoyed people being able to express themselves. I also understand that not everyone receives the nudity without presumption, which leads to harassment.
I think eventually users should curtate content to their own comfort level.

In 10 weeks, I haven’t seen even one Post.News post attacking their TOS:

“Adult Content. We support nudity in art, comedy, and celebrating the human body, but some members may be offended by it. Please do not share pornography or explicit adult content on the site. There are other places for that

I’m on Post.News too and haven’t seen this questioning of vague policies. Or please explain more thoroughly. I don’t see this pressure to change the rules at Post.News like I see here. This whole thing seems suspicious to me. Thank you Christopher for standing your ground.

You're on the right track. Stay the course. There will always be someone who wants to be a victim or complain about things. Let's just keep moving forward without them.

I agree, that for now the policy should stay the same, but good policy is only good if it adapts and is reviewed over time. I suggest that policy be regularly reviewed, maybe with user input, every once in a while or as knowledge changes.. it's the prudent thing to , eventually.

After taking some time to read many, many opinions, it now seems to be more about "Why can't I use your absolutely free site to make myself $$$$$!!!???" instead of standing up for a marginalized group like they're claiming.

Which is absolutely disgusting, IMO.

@cbouzy you must be sooo tired right now working nonstop. The bright side is you have reached critical mass for controversy. Congratulations! Content moderation will never be not-messy. You're sticking to your principles + being transparent about them. Well done. Stay thoughtful, it's working.

My takeaway is that there is a segment of SW looking for paths to get customers. They saw Spoutible as a possible opportunity. It's not an opportunity. Spoutible users are not buyers and sellers. If you want that, go elsewhere.

People demanding a free social media site also be a safe haven for porn is crazy. The legal and financial ramifications of which would include vetting age when there is nudity/sexual content, or risk child exploitation. Sadly there is a 100% chance that would happen.

No, you should not give in. We voted, and even discussed it during your Twitter Spaces meetings. The results were strongly opposed to any porn content. Please don't give in.

You're not being rude, they are being pushy.

Love SW and Porn
I have literally millions of options to engage with them.
I voted NO to porn/explicit material here. I had enough of that on the bird site.
You can not please everyone and it is your project.
Keep going making Spoutible great.

I think there is some massive deflection going on here to undermine the site and look for ways to stymie it.

I think @cbouzy is good to set boundaries. The position of “I’ll change your policies for you because I disagree with them” is next level entitlement.

Was the majority aware of the discrimination against queer and disabled people that leads to queer and disabled people being overrepresented among sex workers? Sure, don't allow explicit sex acts in photos and videos, but allowing people to link to and/or talk about their work is a rights issue.

Like the judge said about porn, "I know it when I see it." I don't know why trans/LGBTQ+ thinks this is targeting them. I haven't seen posts reflecting that.

I will say is I saw enough sex pics and dick pics on the bird. I don't want to see that here. It's unnecessary. Go elsewhere for that.

Especially with the Supreme Court cases coming up that could gut Section 230 and leave companies liable for what their users post.

Agreed. There is a lot of nuanced discussion that the people of this platform DESERVE TO ENGAGE IN.

I don't want to see porn on here either, honestly, but I think people who make porn should have a right to talk about their work, because sex workers don't usually have other options for survival.
