Last month, a reporter contacted me about a disturbing campaign organized against me on a forum using my old voter registration data from NY. We need new laws to address this.

When we take back the House, you should go lobby Congress on this matter.

I hope you’re able to put together a cyber defense force like none other.

This is mind boggling. Why is it so easy to obtain crucial legal & personal data about a citizen, I just read about the heavily altered portrait of the Queen & her great grandchildren supposedly taken by Kate. You called this out at the time of its publication. Can the royals be after you?

I'm so sorry Christopher.🥺 This prompts me to check my state's laws on voter privacy to better inform myself. Federal protections should be passed. These campaigns against you are outrageous!🤬

I totally agree, what surprises me is that no state is a leader in really protecting our privacy. Stay safe.

So sorry you've had to experience this @cbouzy ! I had no idea this was going on before reading your spout. The targeted harassment you & and others have experienced drives home that it's long past time to update this for public safety. Stay safe!

This is crazy. There's zero privacy anymore. It's all about $$$ and folks selling private info for profit. It's scary to think anyone can access our addresses, phone numbers, and a whole lot more if they just know how or if they can pay the price.

How are 3rd parties even getting voter registration info to begin with???

Currently, voter registration info is generally treated as public information available by request. Sometimes a 3rd party has to pay a fee to get a download of the bulk data.
Some 3rd parties then post all of the info online (if allowed by state law). Some use it for marketing (campaign or other).

I believe we need federal regulation of all elections. There needs to be some base standards on how they run and how the information collected is handled.

Exactly. But they are incapable of handling our information. Federal & state agencies are hacked all the time and our data is flushed out.
