Incredible Shrinking Nana

I remember years ago when the Silver Bridge collapsed just from the weight of traffic. Horrifying. I have questions about whether or not the ship could have avoided an impact with the bridge at all. I am not knowledgeable enough to understand but was the ship not steerable?

It's an ongoing investigation. Stick with what is KNOWN.

It was clearly having power issues (had lost all power numerous times), and black smoke was seen coming from it minutes before it hit the bridge. They were likely unable to steer it.

That's the exact event I remembered when I saw the news this morning.

I worked on a bridge across the Hudson River for 3 summers during college. Every time I was out on the span and a freighter approached I wondered what would happen if it hit one of the support piers.

It lost power. It seems they lost control.

It's in there in the live coverage.
