A kiss on the forehead as Fats Waller, one of my Dad’s favorites, played on the Jazz channel. Got my love of jazz from him, and we were bonding over music as he lay on his hospice bed. They both looked at each other suspiciously. Each wore a demeanor of distrust. Recent silence on matters created fertile vacuums. Two best friends growing apart yet bonded still. They both held a #secret but not the one they each suspected. Further evidence of their evolving friendship.
