Yep. Same. Or at least it used to do so. Haven't actually tried it in years.
Somehow it has survived several moves intact, which I find amazing.

Western culture worships money. "Worth-ship," as in, an item's cash equivalent is the only quality that makes the item worthy. This idea is one of the most distorted exports of Western 'civilization.' Eventually (don't ask when!) humanity will shift to valuing spiritual essence over bars of gold.

Chickling - uh, chuckling - at the folly of the human race. Still wondering, was the chicken clucking, rotisserie, or frozen solid? I mean, THAT would hurt.

Envying your resolve. I made a similar decision about mastering (or at least managing) the cello, in early 2020, obtained a better instrument, and.... pandemic hit. All focus was on work ("essential worker") for a long time, and no in-person instruction was possible. Also now retired....🎶🎶🎶???

Break open the snow cocoon (e.g., watch adult offspring finish shoveling the driveway in hopes of obtaining groceries tomorrow.) Exciting, eh?

I lived in Hershey back in the late seventies.
Each morning I'd step out of the apartment and inhale the chocolaty air.
(and nearby, the aroma of roasted peanuts, too - the Reese's factory)

True, yup. I thought I'd stay in some little village for my whole career but I moved multiple times. ... Haven't yet found a volunteer slot for myself but need to do something modestly useful. Ah well.

There's a line of hooded robes called Serious Sweats on Lands End website. On sale right now, too. I stopped buying from them some years ago but the sweatshirt fabric used for these robes is just the right stuff.

That's the sensible approach.
My late brother-in-law was a physicist with an interest in cosmology. I volunteered to sort through his papers including letters to/from other cosmology people around the world. A little overwhelming for someone who just sorta passed physics.

Interesting; lots of

Envious! You're so skilled at this, dchroucher

Will flattery (honest as it is) make me into a character too? Imagining myself as a falconer - with a peregrine falcon, yes - wildish eyes on the sky. Hair in ringlets, part grey. Leaning on an old tree cuz I walk with a cane now. Possible?

Ah. My days were passed in the trenches of primary care. Which permitted great appreciation for the Faucis of the world, who handed us some very useful tools. My one claim to "fame" if you can call it that - Debbie Birx was a classmate in med school.

I had a grand time last spring/summer especially, having just moved a couple hundred miles to a new(old) house. Currently, about 3 miles from the shore of a Great Lake and there are wetlands/woods within a qtr mile. Every day, "new" birds! (I'm debating about hearing aids - getting close I think)

That would be nice! though a bit of remaining mystery is maybe not a bad thing. Hard to decide! At my stage in life, gallumphing through the woods to await what comes my way is less tempting now, haha! I thought I was going to lose birdsong (with my hearing) so Merlin acts as personal assistant.

"snowstorm accelerated out of nowhere"
So in her mind, a *natural* snowstorm would have been dumping feet of snow over the Pacific, the west coast, and ALLLLL across the country before it got to Iowa. Once a snowstorm, always a snowstorm?
